The micro-region has been recognised as a LEADER region together with the Wachau region since 2007. The LEADER programme gives rise to additional development and financing potentials for both regions.

LEADER is a funding measure co-financed by the EU for the development of rural regions with the involvement of the local population. LEADER is a French acronym (“Liaison entre actions de développement de l’économie rurale”) and means Links between actions for the development of the rural economy.

In principle, LEADER enables the funding of a large number of projects and project types that go with the following areas of action:

  •  Economy and value added
  •  Cultural heritage and natural resources
  •  Common good and social affairs.

The management of the LEADER region is happy to answer all your questions and will advise you on all necessary steps on the way to successful project funding.

You can find details and the possibilities for assistance at www.wachau-dunkelsteinerwald.at.
